1979-1981:  Started Martial Arts at the age of 9 in Gilroy, California (Kung Fu)
 
1983-1987:  Tae-Kwon-Do under Master Ernie Reyes Sr. in San Jose, California
 
1987-1989:  Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate under Sensei David Neubacher in Idaho Falls, Idaho
 
1989-1993:  Kenpo Karate under Gary Cox in Salt Lake City, Utah
 
1993: Promoted to Black Belt in Kenpo Karate under the International Kenpo Karate Association 
 
1993-1996: Filipino Kun Tao (Jujitsu & Judo) under Master Mel Hebert in Salt Lake City, Utah
 
1993-1996: Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Pedro Sauer in Salt Lake City, Utah
 
1993-Present: Kodokan Judo, Kosen Judo under Mel Hebert, Keith Schwartz, Steve Nelson, and current coach, Sensei Gregg Trude

1999-2003: Chief Instructor/Owner of Elite Martial Arts Academy in Pocatello, Idaho (Judo, Karate, & Jiu-Jitsu)
 
2001: Promoted to Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) in Judo by the United States Judo Association
 
2004: Promoted to Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt) in Judokan Jiu-Jitsu under the American Federation of Ju-Jitsu
 
2005-Present: Chief Instructor / Coach of the Fort Hall Judo Club on the Shoshone-Bannock Indian Reservation, Idaho
 
2005: Promoted to Blue Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu by Professor Keith Owen (Pedro Sauer Black Belt)
 
2005-2007: Chief Instructor / Owner of Elite Jiu-Jitsu Academy (Youth Training Center) Pocatello, Idaho. 
 
2007: Promoted to Purple Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation
 
2007-Present: Chief Instructor / Owner of Gracie Barra Idaho (Former Elite Martial Arts Academy)
 
2008: Promoted to Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) in Judo by Sensei Gregg Trude and the United States Judo Association
 
2009: Promoted to Brown Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu by Professor Rafael Ellwanger, endorsed by Carlos Gracie Jr. and the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation
 
 
Mr. Massey has been greatly influenced or trained by some of the best Instructors in the world, such as Keith Schwartz, Mike Swain, David Neubacher, Hugh Suenaga, Mel Hebert, Ernie Reyes Sr., Professor Pedro Sauer, Joe Moreira, Jean Jacques Machado, Keith Owen, Jim Collins, Professor Rafael Ellwanger, and Mestre Carlos "Carlinhos" Gracie Jr. of Gracie Barra.
 
Gracie Barra Idaho (Elite Martial Arts Academy) has been producing Champions from Pocatello ID since 1999, and Fort Hall ID since 2005.  Sensei Massey has been active in the Martial Arts for over 30 years and continues to further his knowledge in the Arts.
